Okay, yes ā we skipped church again š«£.
And yes ā the Browns lost. Again.
But it wasnāt all a loss. In fact, we had a great Sunday. šš¾
We spent the day at Anthonyās line brotherās house, who hosted an incredible Browns watch party that totally made up for the scoreboard. His backyard was completelyĀ transformed ā from tents to dĆ©cor, food setups to a full-on outdoor projector and screen, everything was on point. Like⦠Pinterest-level hosting.
š The Setup Deserves Its Own Praise
It took them the whole weekend to set everything up ā and it showed. There were tables, tents, yard signs, music, a bar, everything.Ā The host and hostess really understood the assignment. All we had to bring was our own lawn chairs ā which wasnāt a problem at all because Anthony and I keep ours in the trunk. (We also keep a folding card table back there, just in case. Youād be surprised how often it comes in handy!)
But now? Iāve got my eye on a LifeTime folding tableĀ that one of the guests brought. It was the perfectĀ size and height to go with lawn chairs ā way better than the oversized card table weāve been dragging around. Itās on my list!
š½ļø Food, Fellowship, & Styrofoam To-Go Plates
Letās talk about the food. Hot entrĆ©es. Sweet desserts. Cold drinks. It was all there. The hosts even set out styrofoam containersĀ for everyone to take food home ā which just speaks to their level of hosting excellence. They had thought of everything.
And let me pause to shout out the hostess, who was on it. She didnāt miss a beat. While cleaning up after the game, she noticed my container of homemade soft pretzel nuggetsĀ hadnāt been touched. Yāall⦠I spent hours on those nuggets the night before and was so worried no one liked them.
But this woman? She took it upon herself to bag up the nuggets into sandwich bags and pass them out like they were party favors. And Iām soĀ grateful she did ā because not only did they get taken home, but I also had people come up and tell me how much they loved them!
They were like, āThese are SO GOOD ā you have to bring them every time!ā
Some said their bag of 6 to 8 nuggets didnāt even make it out of the backyard. Music to my ears. š¶
š„Ø The Pretzel Nugget Legacy Begins
No, we didnāt take any pretzel nuggets home.
Yes, we already had some at the house.
And yes⦠we also had pretzel dogs waiting. š¤
Eventually, Iāll share the recipe. Iām still working out a few things like the size and color (they gotta lookĀ good too, okay?). But when itās ready, yāall will be the first to know.
š Final Thoughts
So yes ā the Browns lost (shocker), but our Sunday was full of good people, great food, and another reminder of why community matters.
We didnāt go to church⦠but in some ways, we still got a little bit of soul food.
And in the meantime, enjoy these photos from the day.
